Christmas 2014

I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas! Here in Sweden we celebrate on the 24th so I spent a nice and calm Christmas with my family yesterday. Here are some photos from my Christmas Eve:

Eurotix - He'll Be Home For Christmas (Free MP3)

Mine and Larry's synthpop project Eurotix recently released the EP "Are You Strong Enough?". To say thanks for all your support, we're giving away a free MP3 download of our brand new Christmas song "He'll Be Home For Christmas". You can download it from our Soundcloud page.

The song is a bit different from our usual style, but hey, it's Christmas! Personally, I'm very happy about the gay themed lyrics. Feel free to share the song with your friends. Special thanks to Jimmy Dyrebrant who designed the artwork and to Stefan Gemzell who made the animated video.

Merry Christmas!

By the way, we're releasing our brand new EP "Are You Strong Enough?" later this month. If you can't wait, Club 80's will premiere some of the tracks tomorrow. The show starts at 9 PM CET and you can listen live on the radio station's website.

Eurotix - Superstar

Listen to "Superstar", the opening track on Eurotix debut album "The Secret". We first recorded it a few years back, as a demo sent to Melodifestivalen, the Swedish pre-selection to the Eurovision Song Contest. However, it remained unreleased until Larry and I decided to rerecord it for the album.

Not only have the vocals been rerecorded, but the production has been given a full makeover. The final version is less "schlager" and more synthpop, more Eurotix. I'm also fond of the lyrics which are both cocky and tragic at the same time.

"Superstar" is available digitally on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon UK, Amazon US and on a limited CD edition. Enjoy!

Eurotix video shoot

It's been a really exciting weekend. Larry and I filmed our scenes for the upcoming Eurotix music video "Are You Strong Enough?", directed by Israel Benavides and his talented team. They all did an amazing job and I can't wait to see the final cut!

The video was shot in Gävle city. In some scenes, we had to walk backwards in the middle of a crowded street. I was so scared of tripping but we survived. People who didn't see the camera must have thought we were crazy though. But one has to suffer for the art, right?

Big thanks to Israel and his team! Don't forget to follow Eurotix on Facebook and Twitter for more news on the upcoming video.

Eurotix - Don't Let Go

Listen to my band's track "Don't Let Go" down below. It was sent to Melodifestivalen, the Swedish pre-selection to the Eurovision Song Contest, but didn't go all the way, so it was released on our album instead. The track also includes a nod to a certain New Order track. Can you hear which one?

"Don't Let Go" is taken from our Eurotix album "The Secret", available digitally on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon UK, Amazon US and as a limited CD edition. Enjoy!

My life is no longer a soap opera

I used to say that my life was like a soap opera, filled with drama and back-stabbing people. I still love watching soaps. But thankfully, my own life is so much calmer and less dramatic these days. Just the way I want it. And all the back-stabbers haven been "written out" of my life.

Equality

Speaking up for equality by taking a stand against racism, homophobia, sexism and other injustices can get on some people's nerves. But I don't care about being popular. I'm more interested in doing the right thing.

Eurotix - Kill Another Day (Depeche Mode, anyone?)

"Kill Another Day", a track from the Eurotix EP "Let's Die Young" is now on YouTube, so you can have a listen down below. Can you spot the Depeche Mode reference? The track is out now on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon UK, Amazon US.

Eurotix - Lies (Alphaville cover)

Mine and Larry's synthpop project Eurotix have recorded a cover of German band Alphaville's classic album track "Lies". It was originally recorded in 2013 for the tribute compilation CD "We Heard The Call Vol 2", but now it's available on our latest EP "Let's Die Young", out now on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon UK, Amazon US.

Thursday 11 September 2014

Eurotix - Come And Hold Me

My synthpop project Eurotix have made a tribute to Swedish schlager duo Nina & Kim by recording a synthpop version of their 2003 single "Om Du Stannar Hos Mig". It's one of my favourite songs by the duo and Larry and his friends wrote the original. I've had the honour of writing new English lyrics for our version and the sound is of course inspired eighties euro disco music!

If you like the song, you can find it on our latest EP "Let's Die Young", out now on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon UK, Amazon US.

Eurotix - Let's Die Young (Mobile Phone Video)

Check out this amateur video that I have made for the Eurotix track "Let's Die Young", starring my dear friend Angelica Olsson. It was shot in my home town Sandviken on an iPhone 5, just for fun, so don't except too much ha ha!

The "Let's Die Young" EP is available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon UK, Amazon US.

Eurotix - Let's Die Young (EP)

We are happy to announce our brand new Eurotix EP "Let's Die Young"! The title track is dedicated to a mutual friend of ours and tells the story of her and Larry's friendship back in the eighties. She kindly let us use an old photo of her for the EP cover.

The EP also includes three non-album tracks: The brand new "Kill Another Day" (Can you spot the Depeche Mode reference?) and "Come And Hold Me" (A cover of a song by Swedish schlager duo Nina & Kim, with new lyrics written by Dennis), plus our cover of Alphaville's album track "Lies".

"Let's Die Young" is out now on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon UK, Amazon US, plus many other digital music stores. The song is taken from our debut album "The Secret", available digitally and as a limited CD edition. We hope you will like it. Please help us spread the word and thanks for all your support!

2. Come And Hold Me
3. Kill Another Day
4. Lies

Eurotix - After Before, Before After

Listen to "After Before, Before After" by my synthpop project Eurotix down below. White Lion Radio called it the best synth ballad since "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye". What do you think? One of the inspirations for this song was Alphaville's "Forever Young".

The track is taken from our debut album "The Secret", available digitally on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon UK, Amazon US and as a limited CD edition. Enjoy!

Not without my iPod

What would life be without music? When at home, I'm constantly listening to music. And as you can see, I don't leave home without my iPod and headphones. What kind of music are you listening to the most at the moment?

Thank you!

Big thanks for all your birthday greetings! I really appreciate it. I've had a lovely day, celebrating with the family. This weekend, some of my closest friends are coming over for a belated birthday dinner. I'm really looking forward to it.

Sensitivity is not a weakness

Being a sensitive person can be quite tough in today's society, where showing emotions is considered a weakness, and where mental conditions like depression and anxiety aren't taken as seriously as physical conditions.

I've often been told to toughen up in order to make it in the "real world". Don't get me wrong, I'm no pushover. I'm not afraid to speak up against injustices and you don't have to walk on eggshells around me. But I won't pretend to be strong in situations that make me feel uncomfortable, and I won't step on others to get ahead. I prefer being true to myself.

I've encountered many insensitive people over the years. Teachers, employers, class mates, even relatives. It can be hard to put yourself in someone else's place, especially if you're not a very sensitive person yourself. But that's no excuse for putting others down or pressuring them into being something they're not.

I want to live in a world where people treat each other with respect. A world where sensitive people don't have to fight for the right to be themselves. I've often apologised for being sensitive, taking the blame when others have hurt me. But not anymore. Being sensitive doesn't automatically mean that you're over-sensitive.

I know my strengths and my weaknesses. I've worked hard to become the person I am today and I'm proud of the progress I've made. Writing is therapeutic and I hope to be able to share my story one day. Maybe I can help other sensitive people stand up for themselves, and show less sensitive people that life is so much better when you show a little empathy.

Eurotix - The Secret (Album)

Get ready to know "The Secret", the debut album by my synthpop project Eurotix, including the singles "I Plead Insanity", "Life As It Slips Away" and the forthcoming single "Let's Die Young". Both me and Larry love eighties music, so our songs are heavily influenced by the synthpop, italo and eurodisco sound of that era. But with a modern twist.

We decided right from the start that our main goal was to make an album we'd enjoy listening to ourselves. And if others liked it too, that would be a big bonus. But we've been pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback from synthpop lovers worldwide. They have encouraged us to keep doing the kind of music we know and love. We're having a great time in the studio and we've already begun working on our second album.

To pre-order the limited CD edition of the album, click here. "The Secret" is also out digitally on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon UK, Amazon US and many other music stores.

Eurotix - Life As It Slips Away (EP)

Me and Larry Forsberg just released the new Eurotix EP "Life As It Slips Away". Check out the video for the title track down below! It was directed by Andrea Forsberg and shot in an old factory, abandoned in the eighties, which is quite fitting considering the retro vibe of the EP.

The title track was originally written by Larry and his friend Andreas Ahlenius in the late eighties but remained unreleased, until now. The EP also includes the brand new track "When You Go", plus final mixes of the party anthem "Clubland" and "We Could Have Been", previously available in early mixes on Soundcloud and YouTube.

The EP is out now on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon UK, Amazon US and many other digital music stores. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for news on our upcoming album. And please share the video with your friends!

New Facebook page!

Important message: I won't be updating my old Facebook page anymore. Since I no longer record music as Bimbo Boy, I've created a new page, called Dennis Alexis, for my English followers, and I'd be so happy if you joined it!

I will keep the old page open for everyone who enjoyed the music I made as Bimbo Boy, and the old posts will remain. But from now on, I will only make new posts on the new page. So please like it to make sure you don't miss out on anything.

On the new page, I'll be writing about my life, my music, Eurotix, LGBT rights and my personal thoughts. I will also link to new blog posts from this blog and my other English blog, Plastic Retro. I hope to see you all on the new page.

Hugs and kisses!

Google goes gay

I'm glad to see that Google is suppoting LGBT rights in Russia by making their logo rainbow coloured and adding this quote from the Olympic charter:

"The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play."

Thank you, Google!

Say goodbye to GetGlue and hello to Trakt.tv

Some of you might remember that I recommended GetGlue, a social network where you could check into movies, TV-series, books, video games and music. However, GetGlue jumped the shark long ago, removing all the great things about the website, totally ignoring complaints for their users. And when you thought things could'nt get any worse, they went and changed the name to TVtag.

So from now on I use a social network called Trakt.tv instead. It's the perfect app for checking into movies and TV-series, while sharing it to Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. I love it so if you give it a try, add me as a friend by visiting my profile. It's perfect for entertainment nerds!

Naantali Spa Hotel

I've just had a phone date with a close friend of mine. We're planning a weekend at the glamorous Naantali Spa Hotel in Finland. I've been there a few times as a kid and I loved it, so it would be amazing to go back together with him. We need to get away from all our demanding fans in Sweden ha ha!

I am a soap bitch

So true! Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear, has always been my favourite "Melrose Place" character. Somehow I can relate to her. Sure, she can be a bitch, but she also has a soft and sensitive side that she doesn't want others to know about. I can be a bitch when I need to. But only to people who treat me bad. If speaking up against bullying, racism and other injustices makes you a bitch, then I'm proud of being one!

So I'm an Amanda Woodward all the way. Which "Melrose Place" character are you? Please leave a comment.

"Once the rumour spreads, the truth is just a thing of the past."

Please don't judge a person solely based on a rumour. Some people say there's some truth in every rumour, but I know from personal experience, that's not always the case. So instead of judging a person based upon rumours (which can lead to devastation for the falsely accused), why not get to know the person yourself and form your own opinion?

Please read this blog post for more on the same subject.

Happy new 2014, angels!

Happy new year, angels! You know me, I'd much rather spend calm and cosy evenings at home with friends than go out clubbing.

My 2013 has been interesting with a lot of great friends, music and movies. I've had loads of fun working with Larry in the studio and I hope you will join Eurotix in 2014 when our first album is released! If you've missed our single, check out the photo video!

As some of you know, I've had some personal issues this year, but thanks to many of you, I've survived it all, and I'm now looking forward to an amazing 2014 filled with new music, writing, old and new friendships and of course love. So have a great new year!

I love you!
